MOS Interview: Love Ghost

unnamed-4Love Ghost is a four-piece emo garage rock band straight out of Los Angeles, California. Formed by 15 year old frontman Finn Bell, Love Ghost pays tribute to the greatest artists of the 90’s grunge scene with their sound heavily influenced by the era. The band have been working hard to build up their already large and loyal following of fans, and only hope to grow bigger. Ellen recently chatted with Finn about how the band came to be, their musical influences, and the future plans for Love Ghost. Read the interview below!

How did you guys first get started as a band?
I called my friends and asked them to play with me at a show.  The band spun from the show.

Where does the name Love Ghost come from?
The two subjects that I find myself lost in thought about the most are love and death.  But Love Ghost has a nicer ring to it than Love Death.

You guys are all still pretty young. How did you know that music was what you wanted to do?
There is nothing more powerful than music.

Your sound is clearly very 90’s grunge inspired. What is it about that era/sound that you love?
I love the honesty, the aggression and the poetry.  I think grunge has the power to describe someone that’s had a troubled past yet still managed to maintain their confidence.

I grew up in the 90’s myself and have always thought it was the best era for music. Who are some of your favourite artists that you look up to from that time?
Alice in Chains, Radiohead, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson and many more.

You guys recently dropped a couple of new songs. Can you tell us a bit about the tracks?
The Forgive Me vocal track was recorded at around 2 am- I had barely slept the night before and was so tired I actually started to mildly hallucinate.  Friday Afternoon is one of our more mainstream songs, and no- there was no hallucinating involved.

Any plans for an EP or album in the near future?
Yes an EP will be released quite soon

Where would you like to see yourself 3 years from now?
Hopefully with a bigger audience and playing bigger shows.

What does the rest of 2016 have in store for you?
I hope 2016 is a great year for Love Ghost- but I am not sure.

What are your top 5 artists/albums you’ve been listening to lately?
Deaf Tones
The Beatles
The Pixies

Love Ghost’s new track Friday Afternoon is available to stream right now here!
