Dustin Kensrue of Thrice covers Brand New’s “Jesus Christ”

While everyone else is talking about Brand New frontman Jesse Lacey’s R.E.M. cover, I’m over here with Thrice vocalist Dustin Kensrue‘s new cover on repeat. Brand New was one of the biggest bands in my life during my formative years, and I know it’s that way for a lot of other people who love the music in this scene. Covering one of their songs is a brave feat to take on. But Thrice is hugely influential in their own right, and this stripped-down, all-acoustic version that Dustin has created is fucking gorgeous. It’s got that same emotional, haunting feel that the entire Devil and God… album has, but the acoustic twist makes it heartbreakingly beautiful and really showcases Dustin’s vocal talent. You can check it out below, and preorder Dustin’s upcoming album Thoughts That Float On A Different Blood, here.
