Allan Kingdom is a rapper, producer from Canada. He first came to the scene for some with Kanye’s Track “All Day”, or for others (like me) with a feature on Spooky Black‘s song “Wavey”. Allan Kingdom has a unique style to what’s currently on the scene, his trippy style mixed with hype beats, makes his music an interesting mixture of hip-hop and trap most aren’t used to. He brings a new sound to the scene, almost as if Future, Partynextdoor and Fetty had a lovechild. Allan released Northern Lights the mixtape about a month ago, and it’s some pretty lit shit if you ask me. He just released the music video for “Northern Lights” yesterday. Stream the release and read Amanda’s review of it, and watch the music video below.
Allan opens up the mixtape with the song “The Ride” and right away you’re vibin! The beat on this track is smooth, and then is very bass-based. His flow is very on point and he adds his tongue and cheek tone changes throughout the song. This is definitely very catches and gets you excited for the rest of the tracks to come. Definitely a good choice to open the mixtape with this track.
This mixtape is definitely high-energy and makes you want to bounce around while cookin’ like you’re Gucci Mane. The production on this tape is really, really dope. I would have to say most of the time it’s hard to find beats where you can just listen to them without the vocals, but I think these ones qualify under that description. Allan really throws out catchy song after catchy song and it’s really refreshing. This is one of those tapes you can bump constantly in your car on the way to a party, or a job interview to get you hyped up. I love his voice and vocal switches they’re very unique and add flare to each track.
They way Allan sings through some of the songs really adds a special content to this tape as a whole. My favorite song from the track would have to be “Go Fish” for the production, but if we’re talking all together I would have to say “Fables” ft Chronixx. It’s catchy, the beat is well constructed and it really encompasses that perfect mixture between- trap, rap and hip-hop. I could listen to this track at a party, kickback or right before bed.
Overall, I would definitely suggest you give this tape a listen- it’s a journey from track to track and if you enjoy music that really gets you vibin’ then you’re gonna enjoy this mixtape.
